Thinking about my writing career, I’ve decided that I’m going to use a company front for my freelance writing and the name is Utter With ‘ em. While that’s a bit corny, I like it a lot and I’ve been trying to figure out what to use for awhile but now that I’ve figured it out on with it! Darn, I was hoping I’d get to use the with ‘em thing but I didn’t quite get it to fit the intended meaning.
I’m not sure what kind of writing I will do but right now it seems like a lot of my experience is related with technical writing and that’s generally stuff that people expect their workers to do. I have often been asked to help people work on their documents or figure out how programs work. Some of my favorite programs include Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and some other programs that are document-orientated however I also enjoy things like AIM and so forth but those programs are not usually used for working but rather for social time and social media is a big thing.
Becoming a good technical writer is not difficult but it is very time consuming and when you are good at something, it’s often better to be able to do that and help others than to expect others to be perfect at what you are good at and not offer your help. I’m a very critical writer but at the same time I can be very sloppy and that often works against me in receiving any work. I haven’t exactly been looking very hard but honestly, it’s not something I want to pursue right now because if I do that, it’s very possible that I’ll lose my “Mojo” when it comes to writing.
I enjoy writing things that I’m not exactly required to do and when I do have to write things I am required to do, I end up half-assing it and that wouldn’t be very good for my business or my personal benefit. I do expect to write a book someday and I do expect to explore my options in the job market but at the same time I know what I want to do and it hasn’t changed for the last six months but it is something I have wanted to do for a long time now, I just didn’t know where to start and now I do!
